Thank you President Olmert

I guess that should be his title since he gets to decide what American foriegn policy is and how we should vote in the U.N.

In an unusually public rebuke, Prime MinisterEhud Olmert of Israel said Monday that Secretary of StateCondoleezza Rice had been forced to abstain from a United Nationsresolution on Gaza that she helped draft, after Mr. Olmert placed a phone call to President Bush.

“I said, ‘Get me President Bush on the phone,’ ” Mr. Olmert said in a speech in the southern Israeli city of Ashkelon, according to The Associated Press. “They said he was in the middle of giving a speech in Philadelphia. I said I didn’t care: ‘I need to talk to him now,’ ” Mr. Olmert continued. “He got off the podium and spoke to me.”

Imagine for a minute a Democratic President got out from behind a podium and take orders from the President of France.  Me thinks the wingnuts would be losing there minds.  But as John Cole says, "Crickets."

thank you mr. president

Apparently the Bush-disaster Katrina is still displacing and harming kids.

The health problems of Hurricane Katrina children are daunting. When the Children’s Health Fund, whose mobile health clinics have provided the only doctors and psychologists available to many of these families, reviewed the charts of children seen this year, researchers with the Mailman School of Public Health at Columbia University found that 41 percent under age 4 had iron-deficiency anemia — twice the rate for children in New York City’s homeless shelters. Anemia, often attributable to poor nutrition, is associated with developmental problems and academic underachievement.

And those trailers they are filled with formaldehyde which of course all growing children need.
“Not only has their health not improved since the storm,” the study said, “over time it has declined to an alarming level.”

This President(and this country) is completely fucked up.  I find this intolerable.  Why can't we function at even the most basic level.  If these were white kids I gurantee you something would be done.  This is important to remember, yes we elected a black man president but we still ignore the institutional racism that exists throughout our society.  Katrina is the biggest example recently, but schools and the criminal justice system dysfunctionally rascist. So lets not break our arms patting ourselves on the back.

at least we know who to blame

Michael Dukakis takes responsibility for the shrub.

Look, I owe the American people an apology. If I had beaten the old man you’d of never heard of the kid and you wouldn’t be in this mess. So it’s all my fault and I feel that very, very strongly.
